How to Fix a “404 Error” After Tapping Your NFC Product

What does a 404 error mean?

A 404 error, sometimes shown as “Page not found,” means the website could not find the page at the saved address.

If tapping your Review⚡️Zaps Card or Stand opens a webpage with a 404 error, your phone is detecting the NFC tag correctly. The problem is usually the link stored on the tag.

The easiest fix is to generate a fresh Google review link, test it, and then reprogram your NFC Product.

1. Generate a Fresh Google Review Link

Use our free:

Google Review Link Generator

Start typing your business name.

If needed, add your city and state to narrow the results.

Select the correct business location, then click:

COPY MY REVIEW LINK

We also recommend clicking:

TEST MY LINK

to confirm that the link opens the correct Google review page before you save it to your Review⚡️Zaps Product.

This helps avoid problems caused by:

  • Incomplete URLs
  • Old or broken links
  • Long Google Maps URLs
  • Copying the wrong business location
  • Typing or editing the link manually

2. Test the New Link

Click TEST MY LINK in the generator.

Confirm that:

  • The correct business opens
  • The correct location is shown
  • Google opens the review-writing page

If the wrong business appears, search again and select the correct listing.

Do not reprogram your NFC Product until the link works correctly.

3. Check the URL in NFC Tools

Open NFC Tools and review the URL currently saved in your writing list.

Look for:

  • Missing characters
  • Extra text
  • Spaces
  • An incomplete URL
  • Duplicate https://

If the saved link looks different from the one generated by our tool, replace it with the fresh link.

4. Update Your NFC Product

If your tag has not been permanently locked:

  1. Open NFC Tools
  2. Tap Other
  3. Tap Erase Tag
  4. Hold your phone over the NFC Product until the erase is complete
  5. Return to Write
  6. Tap Add a Record
  7. Tap Add Custom URL/URI
  8. Paste the fresh Google review link
  9. Tap OK
  10. Tap Write / XX Bytes
  11. Hold your phone over the NFC Product until NFC Tools confirms the write was successful

Then tap your Review⚡️Zaps Card or Stand and confirm that it opens the correct Google review page.

A permanently locked tag cannot be erased or rewritten. Contact support if your tag is locked.

5. Having Trouble Reading or Writing the Tag?

If NFC Tools is having trouble detecting your Card or Stand, use our free:

NFC Tap Spot Finder

Search your exact phone model to find the recommended NFC tap location, then try again.
