How to Tap
Do I Need to Turn NFC On?
NFC Not Reading?
Quick fixes that solve most missed Taps.
Move the phone slowly
NFC has a short read range. Hold the highlighted part of the phone directly against or very close to the NFC product.
Hold it there briefly
Don't swipe quickly. Hold steady for 1–2 seconds.
Unlock the phone
Many devices won't launch an NFC action while fully locked.
Try without the case
Very thick cases, magnetic accessories, metal plates and some wallet cases can interfere with NFC.
Check NFC settings
Some Android devices allow NFC to be disabled. Open "Do I Need to Turn NFC On?" above for your phone's exact settings path.
Move slightly around the highlighted area
The strongest reading point can vary slightly depending on the phone, case and orientation.

Why NFC Tap Location Matters
Every NFC-capable phone has a small antenna in one specific area of its back, and an NFC card or tag connects best when it's held right at that spot. Manufacturers place the antenna differently, sometimes even between models from the same brand. Tap the wrong part of the phone and NFC can seem broken when both devices are working perfectly.
iPhone NFC location
Top edge of the back, near the cameras, on every iPhone that reads NFC tags.
Samsung NFC location
Varies by line. Galaxy S, A, Z Fold and Z Flip phones each use their own layout.
Google Pixel NFC location
On the back of the phone. The sweet spot shifts between Pixel generations.

FAQ
NFC Tap Spot Finder FAQ
Do all smartphones support NFC?
Most smartphones from the last several years support NFC, but not every model does. Some budget Android phones leave it out, and the iPhone 6s, the first-generation iPhone SE and earlier iPhones can't read NFC tags. Select your phone in the NFC Tap Spot Finder above to check NFC phone compatibility for your exact model.
Do iPhones need NFC turned on?
No. iPhone XS, iPhone XR and every newer iPhone read NFC tags automatically whenever the screen is on. There's no NFC switch to turn on. iPhone 7, 8 and X can also read tags, but only after you open the NFC Tag Reader in Control Center (iOS 14 or later).
Where do I Tap NFC on an iPhone?
The iPhone NFC reader sits at the top edge of the back, near the cameras. Hold the top of your iPhone close to the NFC symbol for 1–2 seconds. The strongest spot can shift slightly between iPhone models, so choose your model in the finder above to see it highlighted.
Where do I Tap NFC on a Samsung phone?
It depends on the model. Samsung places the NFC antenna differently across the Galaxy S, Galaxy A, Z Fold and Z Flip lines, so there's no single spot that works for every Galaxy. Pick your phone in the finder for model-specific Samsung NFC location guidance.
Will my phone case block NFC?
Most standard cases work fine. Very thick cases, metal plates, some magnetic accessories and specialty cases, such as wallet cases holding cards, can weaken or block the connection. If a Tap doesn't register, try again without the case or accessory.
How close does an NFC product need to be?
Very close. NFC typically reads within about 4 cm (roughly 1.5 inches) and works best when the phone is nearly flat against the card or stand. Hold the highlighted part of your phone right over the NFC symbol.
Do customers need an app to use Review⚡️Zaps?
No. Compatible smartphones read Review⚡️Zaps Cards and Stands with their built-in NFC reader. Customers Tap and their phone opens your Google review page. There's no app to download and no account to create.
Why doesn't my NFC tag work every time?
Usually it comes down to position or timing: Tapping outside the phone's NFC area, swiping past too quickly, a locked screen, a thick case or magnetic accessory, or NFC switched off in Android settings. Hold the highlighted area steady over the tag for 1–2 seconds and it should read reliably.
