How to Fix a “Too Many Redirects” Error

What does this error mean?

A redirect sends your browser from one web address to another. A “Too many redirects” error appears when this happens repeatedly and the browser stops trying to load the page.

This can involve the destination website, a shortened link, or saved browser data such as cookies. It does not automatically mean your NFC Product is faulty.

If tapping your product opens the browser and displays this error, your phone has detected the tag. Start by checking the link and browser.

1. Test the review link directly

Open the review link you saved during setup by pasting it into your browser.

If the same error appears without tapping your NFC Product, the problem also occurs independently of the NFC scan. Rewriting the same link is unlikely to resolve it.

Check that the URL is complete and contains no extra text or duplicated https:// prefix.

2. Try another browser or phone

Open the same link in another browser or on another phone.

  • If it works elsewhere: The original browser’s saved data or settings may be contributing to the issue.

  • If it fails in multiple browsers: Check the destination link before changing your NFC Product.

Use the second phone to test the link first. You do not need to reprogram the product simply to perform this check.

3. Clear the affected website’s cookies and data

Saved website data can sometimes contribute to redirect errors. In your browser’s settings, look for its cookies or website data options and remove the data for the affected website where that option is available.

Close the affected tab, then open the link again.

Removing cookies may sign you out of the website. If you clear data for all websites, you may also be signed out of other accounts. Google will still require you to sign in before submitting a review.

4. Check for browser updates

Install any available updates for your browser. Safari updates are included with your device’s operating system updates.

After updating, reopen the browser and test the link again. Uninstalling the browser is not a necessary first step.

5. Check your original review link

If you use a third-party shortened link, test the original Google review link separately. If the original works but the shortened version fails, the shortening service may be involved.

You can obtain a fresh review link from your Google Business Profile:

  1. Open the profile while signed in to the account that manages it.

  2. Select “Read reviews.”

  3. Select “Get more reviews.”

  4. Copy the link and test it in your browser.

Only update your NFC Product after confirming that the replacement link works. A permanently locked tag cannot be rewritten.
