How to Fix the “Byte Size Too Big” Error

What does this error mean?

Your NFC Product’s tag has a limited amount of storage. A “Byte size too big” message means the information you are trying to write is larger than the tag can hold.

This usually happens because the Google review URL is too long or because extra records have been added in NFC Tools.

This error does not usually mean your Review⚡️Zaps Card or Stand is faulty.

1. Generate a Short NFC-Compatible Google Review Link

The easiest fix is to use our free:

Google Review Link Generator

Start typing your business name, add your city and state if needed, then select the correct business.

Once your business appears, click:

COPY MY REVIEW LINK

We also recommend clicking:

TEST MY LINK

before programming your NFC Product to make sure the link opens the correct Google review page.

Our generator creates a compact Google review link that is much better suited for NFC tags than the long Google Maps URLs you may see in your browser.

2. Check Your NFC Tools Writing List

In the Write section of NFC Tools, make sure you only have the URL record you actually need.

Remove any:

  • Duplicate URL records
  • Old links
  • Extra text records
  • Unnecessary records

The URL field should contain only the Google review link you copied from our generator.

3. Write the New Link to Your NFC Product

  1. In NFC Tools, tap Write
  2. Tap Add a Record
  3. Tap Add Custom URL/URI
  4. Paste the review link from our Google Review Link Generator
  5. Tap OK
  6. Tap Write / XX Bytes
  7. Hold your phone over your Review⚡️Zaps Card or Stand until NFC Tools confirms the write was successful

The writing process should only take a moment once your phone is positioned correctly.

After writing, tap your NFC Product with your phone and confirm that it opens the correct Google review page.

Still Getting a Write Error?

The issue may be phone positioning rather than link size.

Use our free:

NFC Tap Spot Finder

Search your exact phone model to see the recommended NFC tap location.

Then try writing the tag again while holding that part of your phone directly over the NFC area of your Review⚡️Zaps Card or Stand.

Still seeing the error?

Use our Contact Us page and include:

  • The Google review link you are trying to save
  • A screenshot of the records in NFC Tools
  • A screenshot of the error message
  • Your phone make and model

These details will help us determine whether the issue is the link, the NFC Tools setup, phone positioning, or the NFC tag itself.
