How to Set Up a Zappy Card for Google Reviews
Setting up a Zappy Card for Google reviews connects the NFC chip inside the card to the Google review link you want customers to open. Once setup is complete, a compatible smartphone can Tap the card and open that destination.
This article gives you a card-specific overview. For the official complete setup instructions for both Review⚡️Zaps cards and stands, use our Setup & Activation Guide. That is the primary activation article and should be your reference if anything here differs from the current setup process.
Before you set up your Zappy Card
Have the following ready:
- Your Review⚡️Zaps Zappy Card
- A compatible NFC smartphone
- Your business’s correct Google review link
- An internet connection while testing the link
If you do not already have the correct Google review link, make sure you obtain the direct link for the Google Business Profile you want customers to review.
Step 1: Open the Review⚡️Zaps setup instructions
Start with the How to Setup & Activate your Review Zap Stand or Card article. Follow the activation process shown there for your card.
The setup guide is maintained as the main source of truth for programming and activation instructions.
Step 2: Use the correct Google review link
The quality of the setup depends on the link you save. Test your Google review link in a browser before programming the card. It should open the intended business profile and take the customer to the correct review destination.
If the link opens the wrong business, a search page, or an outdated profile, fix the link before saving it to the card.
Step 3: Program the Zappy Card
Follow the programming steps in the main activation guide and write the desired Google review link to the Zappy Card.
During programming, hold the phone near the card’s NFC area and avoid moving too quickly. The card and phone need to remain close enough for the NFC interaction to complete.
Step 4: Test the Zappy Card immediately
After setup, test the card before using it with customers.
- Move the phone away from the card.
- Bring the phone back to the Zappy Card’s NFC area.
- Wait for the phone’s NFC notification or prompt.
- Open the prompt.
- Confirm that it loads the correct Google review page.
If it opens the correct destination, your Zappy Card is ready to use.
Step 5: Test with a second phone if possible
Testing on another compatible phone is a useful final check. Different phones have different NFC antenna locations, so successful testing on more than one device can help confirm that the card is programmed correctly.
If you are unsure where to Tap a particular phone, use our NFC Tap Spot Finder.
What should happen after setup?
When a customer taps a compatible phone near the Zappy Card, the phone should recognize the NFC link and display a prompt. The customer taps the prompt, which opens the Google review destination you saved.
The Zappy Card does not automatically submit a review and it does not choose a rating. It simply helps the customer reach the correct page faster.
Do I need to program the Zappy Card before every use?
No. Once the card is correctly programmed, it can be used repeatedly. You do not need to rewrite it for every customer.
Can I program several Zappy Cards with the same review link?
Yes. Multiple cards can use the same Google review link. This is helpful for businesses with several employees, service vehicles, checkout stations, or team members who all need their own card.

What if my Google Business Profile changes later?
If the review destination changes, you may need to update the link stored on your Zappy Card. This can happen if your business moves, you change profiles, or Google changes the relevant destination.

What if the Zappy Card does not scan after setup?
First, confirm that you are using the correct NFC tap spot on the phone. Then remove thick or metal phone accessories, test with another compatible phone, and verify that the card was programmed successfully.

How do customers use the card after setup?
Once the card is ready, simply ask a satisfied customer if they would be willing to leave a Google review and present the card. The customer taps the card with a compatible phone, opens the notification, and writes their review.
