How to Use a Zappy Card for Google Reviews
A Zappy Card is a simple way to help customers open your Google review page while the experience with your business is still fresh. Instead of asking someone to search for your business on Google, find the correct listing, scroll to the review section, and then choose “Write a review,” you can let them Tap the Zappy Card with a compatible smartphone and go directly to your review destination.

How a Zappy Card works for Google reviews
Review⚡️Zaps Zappy Cards use NFC, short for Near Field Communication. NFC allows a compatible smartphone to read a small chip inside the card when the phone is held near the card’s tap area. Once the card is programmed with your Google review link, a customer can Tap the card and their phone can open that link.
The goal is to remove unnecessary steps from the review process. Fewer steps usually means less friction between the moment a customer agrees to leave feedback and the moment they actually reach the review page.
How to use your Zappy Card with customers
The best time to use a Zappy Card is immediately after a positive interaction, while the customer is still with you and the experience is easy to remember.
- Ask naturally. After a successful service, purchase, appointment, or project, ask whether the customer would be willing to leave your business a Google review.
- Present the Zappy Card. Hold the card where the customer can easily Tap it with their phone.
- Have them Tap the card. Depending on the phone model, the NFC reading area may be near the top, middle, or back of the device.
- Open the notification. The phone should display a prompt or notification. Tapping that notification opens your Google review link.
- Let the customer write the review themselves. The customer decides what to write and what rating to leave.
If a customer is unsure where to Tap, use our NFC Tap Spot Finder to find the likely NFC reading area for their phone model.
Where should businesses keep a Zappy Card?
Zappy Cards are designed to be portable, so they work especially well for businesses where the owner or employee moves around. Common examples include contractors, mobile service businesses, real estate professionals, auto detailers, photographers, cleaners, technicians, home-service companies, and anyone who meets customers away from a fixed checkout counter.
Retail businesses can also keep a Zappy Card near the register, reception desk, checkout station, or customer-service area. If you want a product that stays permanently visible on a counter, a Review⚡️Zaps NFC Google Review Stand may be a better fit.
When should you ask for the review?
Timing matters. A strong moment to ask is directly after the customer expresses satisfaction, compliments the service, completes a successful appointment, receives the finished work, or thanks you for helping them.
Waiting until later adds more opportunity for the customer to forget. A Zappy Card helps you make the request actionable in the moment because the customer can immediately reach the review page.
Can one Zappy Card be used more than once?
Yes. A Zappy Card is not a one-time-use product. Once it is programmed, it can be tapped by customer after customer. There is no need to replace the card after each review.
You can also use the same Google review link on multiple cards. This can be useful when several employees, vehicles, technicians, or locations need access to the same review destination. See Can I Use the Same Google Review Link on Multiple Cards or Stands? for more detail.
Do customers need an app?
No special Review⚡️Zaps app is required. On compatible smartphones, NFC is built into the phone. The customer simply taps the card, opens the phone’s NFC prompt, and continues to the review page.
What if the customer’s phone does not read the card?
First, try moving the phone slowly around the card’s tap area instead of holding the entire phone flat against it. NFC antennas are located in different places depending on the phone model.
If the card still does not respond, check our Zappy Card Not Working? Here’s What to Check guide and the NFC Tap Spot Finder.
Do I need to set up the card before using it?
Yes. Your Zappy Card needs to be connected to the Google review link you want customers to open. For the complete activation process, follow our Setup & Activation Guide.
If you want a setup guide written specifically around the Zappy Card, see How to Set Up a Zappy Card for Google Reviews.
Why use a Zappy Card instead of telling customers to search Google?
The benefit is convenience. Searching manually creates several extra decisions and steps. A Zappy Card gives the customer a direct path to the correct place, which can make the review request feel quicker and easier.
The card does not write reviews, choose ratings, or guarantee that someone will leave feedback. It simply makes it easier for a willing customer to reach your Google review page.
