Troubleshooting

Zappy Card Not Working? Here’s What to Check

If your Zappy Card is not working, the problem is usually something simple: the phone is being held over the wrong NFC area, the card has not been activated correctly, NFC behavior differs on that phone model, or the saved link needs to be checked.

This guide walks through the most useful troubleshooting steps in order so you can quickly determine whether the issue is the phone, the tap position, or the card setup.

1. Make sure you are tapping the correct part of the phone

NFC antennas are not located in the same place on every smartphone. On many iPhones the most reliable area is near the top of the phone. On Android devices, the NFC reading area may be near the upper back, center, or another location depending on the manufacturer and model.

Do not assume the center of the phone is always correct. Move the phone slowly around the card’s NFC area and wait briefly for the notification to appear.

For model-specific guidance, use the Review⚡️Zaps NFC Tap Spot Finder.

2. Remove anything that may block the NFC signal

Most normal phone cases do not cause a problem, but very thick cases, metal accessories, magnetic wallet attachments, or other objects between the phone and card can reduce NFC performance.

If the Zappy Card does not scan, temporarily remove the case or accessory and try again.

3. Try another compatible phone

Testing with a second phone is one of the fastest ways to isolate the problem. If the Zappy Card works on another phone, the card itself is probably functioning and the issue is likely related to the original phone’s tap position, NFC settings, case, or compatibility.

If it does not work on multiple compatible phones, continue with the setup checks below.

4. Confirm the Zappy Card was activated and programmed

Your card must contain the correct destination link before it can open your Google review page. If setup was skipped, interrupted, or completed with the wrong link, the card may not behave as expected.

Follow the complete Review⚡️Zaps Setup & Activation Guide to verify the programming process from the beginning.

5. Check whether the card opens the wrong link

If the Zappy Card scans but opens the wrong webpage, the NFC hardware is working. In that situation, the issue is the link stored on the card rather than the tap itself.

Reprogram the card with the correct Google review link by following the setup instructions. If your business moved, changed profiles, or changed the review destination, the link may need to be updated.

6. Make sure you are testing the card correctly

Hold the phone close to the card’s NFC tap area rather than repeatedly tapping the screen against the card. NFC works at very short range and may trigger without physical contact.

Move slowly. If you pass the phone over the active area too quickly, you can miss the read zone.

7. Check NFC behavior on Android

Some Android phones allow NFC to be turned on or off in Settings. If the phone supports NFC but nothing happens when you tap the card, check the phone’s NFC setting and make sure it is enabled.

Menu names vary by Android manufacturer, so search the phone’s Settings for “NFC” if you are unsure where the option is located.

8. What about iPhone?

Compatible iPhones normally handle NFC reading automatically. The most common issue is tap position. Try the upper portion of the iPhone and hold it close to the card for a moment.

9. Confirm the link itself still works

Open the Google review link manually in a browser. If the link does not load correctly when entered directly, the issue is not the Zappy Card. You will need to obtain the correct review link and then update the card.

10. Test after every change

After changing the saved link, phone case, NFC setting, or tap position, test the card again before moving to another troubleshooting step. This helps identify exactly what fixed the issue.

Still not working?
